Download the NEW EP You are going to Die from www.phfat.co.za

Save and print out the below CD cover:

“YOU ARE GOING TO DIE”

“They are currently saving our souls from the stagnation of the Saturday night main stage line-up. P.H.Fat throws down beats that break your face on the pavement outside your house at 3am in the morning.” (www.viceland.com)
“YOU ARE GOING TO DIE”
The good news is, before you do you will be able to download the brand new, 5 track P.H.Fat EP of the same name for free.
Following the success of their debut album “Dinosaur Blood” on 11 February 2011 on acclaimed US label Muti Music, the band has decided to break the traditional mould of a record label financed release; and will launch their 5 track EP for FREE and independently through their website www.phfat.co.za on 20 February 2012.
The three-piece, consisting of Smooth Mike (vocals), Disco Izrael (vocals) and Narch (beats and production), have recognised that in an increasingly competitive market where fan engagement comes at a premium, artists cannot afford to follow traditional marketing models. This is why, even with offers from several record labels, P.H.Fat decided to go the independent route and, in a completely revolutionary move for the SA music industry, make the music available to their fans for free.
The group believes that “the traditional music distribution model is a thing of the past and
with it so is the album per year model.” Instead thereof, they propose a model whereby
they release new content on a more regular basis, giving listeners a reason to check back
regularly and maintaining top of mind awareness.
Fans will be able to download the EP from their website and, if they choose to, donate money to the band using one of three ways – EFT, Paypal or SMS (sending ‘PHFAT’ to 38549 will donate R10).
It is through this unconventional means of distributing their music that P.H.Fat hopes to distance themselves from the bottom-line nature of the current music scene and strive to build a relationship with their fans that is based on mutual respect and a pure, unadulterated love for music. P.H.Fat will introduce the new EP with an extensive tour in February/March 2012:

MOVEMBER 2011 IS HERE

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face and then for the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in South Africa support the number one and two male specific cancers – prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partner, the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). Together, these channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

For more information on the programmes we are funding please visit the following:
Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) -

Global Action Plan -

Is Movember Making a Difference?
The answer is yes, absolutely. Recent research carried out by Movember highlighted that the campaign is working successfully in terms of raising awareness whilst having a positive impact on making men think about their health. Movember participants were shown to spend more time thinking about health issues or reflecting on them than non-participants (the general population). To be specific, the research from Movember participants around the world revealed:

92% of participants spent time thinking about improving their general health

73% had visited a doctor in the last 12 months

73% discussed men’s health with their family, friends or colleagues during Movember

58% carried out personal research on men’s health issues during Movember

85% understood that their health depends on how well they take care of themselves

The research encouragingly shows that participation in Movember does encourage men to proactively engage in the management of their health. However, there is still work to be done and Movember has a responsibility to keep raising awareness, thereby motivating and engaging men around the world to change the face of men’s health.

Big steps have been taken towards changing attitudes and habits relating to men’s health around the world but there is still much to be done to catch up with the women’s health movement. Via the moustache, Movember aims to fulfill its vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health, by continuing to spark conversation and spread awareness of men’s health each year.

For more information on Cancer awareness in South Africa please visit VREDE FOUNDATION http://www.vredefoundation.co.za/

The Vrede Foundation is a Non-Profit, Public Benefit Organization [NPO 068/959 // PBO # 930029994] started in Johannesburg, South Africa in October 2008 as a result of Herman’s Story.

Our aim is twofold.

1] To generate awareness amongst Young South Africans (aged 15-29) regarding Cancer.

Young people don’t usually think about Cancer! There is often a pre-conceived idea that Cancer only affects Older People. Young people don’t want to think about “dreaded diseases”. As the number of people affected by Cancer continues to rise, we want to share information about the disease, about how to manage the disease and about how to assist those affected by the disease.

2] To raise funds and provide financial aid to Young South Africans with Cancer who do not have medical aid.

Young people do not want to think about the impact that Cancer can have on their lives or their finances. Often they are just not prepared to deal with the financial aspects that arise if they do require treatment! This puts an unimaginable strain on both them and their families at a time when they are already dealing with a lot.

Recent studies show cancer has become more prevalent in the younger generation over the years; with certain cancers, like testicular cancer and breast cancer, affecting more and more young men and women as early as in their 20’s.

CANCER DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A DEATH SENTENCE. If caught early, it can be treated and beaten. It’s a tough subject to broach – people often whisper “The Big C” and this creates fear and loathing around the topic.

To break this taboo and align our Foundation with a positive and uplifting message, The Vrede Foundationaims to raise cancer awareness amongst the South African youth through music. Music is the cornerstone of The Vrede Foundation’s process and the live music arena in South Africa is providing the stage from which this new message of hope and action can be delivered. At these live music events young South Africans can get information, learn how to be prepared, where to seek counseling, contribute funds to the Foundation’s trust to help their peers and simultaneously HAVE A REALLY GOOD TIME!

Haal Asem Kwagga Tour: Zebra & Giraffe and Van Coke Kartel – 30 July – 27 August 2011

Sponsored by: MK, Monster Energy, Ray-Ban, Jagermeister and Music Connection.

Van Coke Kartel, winner of the MK “Best Live Act” 2010 and ”Best Afrikaans Rock Album” SAMA 2010, joins forces with the SA radio chart topper and winner of “Best English Rock Album” SAMA 2009, Zebra & Giraffe, to bring you a dynamic combination of English and Afrikaans Rock that promises to be one of the best live experiences in SA Music.

Van Coke Kartel are known for their balls to wall rock shows and Zebra & Giraffe for their eclectic sound. Both are known for their great live shows. These two extremes in the local music industry are gearing up to bring a show to your home town that can not be missed. Haal asem and get ready to party the stripes off your socks!

Zebra & Giraffe

After the successful release of their second album ‘The Inside’ in September 2010, Zebra & Giraffe began 2011 in fine style with the release of the 2nd single ‘Terrified’. The song reached the Top 20 on the 5FM Top 40 and #1 on various campus stations. The band also scooped another SA first by filming a video for the song entirely on the iPhone4. The video also reached #1 on the MK Top 10.

In May 2010, Zebra & Giraffe were nominated at the SAMA awards for Best Rock Album – their 2nd consecutive nomination in this category – they also performed their latest single ‘End of the Road’ live at the awards show. Earlier in May, they were also invited to perform at the exclusive Musexpo showcase in Hollywood, Los Angeles alongside bands from across Europe, the UK and America.

May also saw the release of their 3rd single ‘End of the Road’ which features a video shot by acclaimed directing cinematographer Rob Malpage – the video subsequently spent 3 weeks at the top of the MK charts. The band is about to release their 4th single to radio called ‘Undo These Lies’ with a video due to be out in August.

Van Coke Kartel

Van Coke Kartel kicked 2011 off with supporting international acts Alkaline Trio and Funeral for A Friend as part of the Ramfest 2011 Festival. Their explosive live performances during this tour earned them recognition as one of the hottest acts in SA today. In May and June 2011 the band visited London and Amsterdam to play various successful shows with the highlight of performing with Springbok Nude Girls at the premium London venue Shepard’s Bush Empire. The band will be returning to Amsterdam in 2012.

Van Coke Kartel will be visiting Taiwan in July 2011 to play three shows in Taipei. The highlight will be playing at the Hohaiyan Rock Festival with an estimated attendance of 500 000 music lovers.

On their return to SA, Van Coke Kartel will start pre production for the new album with Theo Crous at Bellville Studios. The album will be released in November 2011.

The bands first single Vir Almal will be released (free download) at the beginning of September 2011. A accompanying music video featuring the complete new band will be released at the same time.

Pziezzo Electric joins Apollo’s Family of Dj’s

Other than this we have been on the look out for talent. Just recently we signed the biggest up and coming artist in the local Drum & Bass realm;Pziezzo Electric.

Pziezzo Electric (pronounced Pee-zo) runs and owns his own production label, Devastation Events and FuckMeI’mABassline Records, and has handled a few of this year’s biggest DnB, Dubstep and Experimental remixes and performed at 2010 and now 2011′s hottest parties to date; including Homegrown, Brick City, Science Frikshun and NoctiVega and the mighty Devastation Monthly.

The first ‘The Beebop’ won him first prize in the Bloc Rocking Beatz productions competition in 2007 and in 2009 he was second runner up BPM’s Annual Remix competition for his remix of Infected Mushroom- Smashing The Opponent. Then his remix of ‘FX Logik – Private Places’ got its hot little butt picked up by Orphan Music in Canada and giving him a lot of international exposure for the Pziezzo Electric Project. Since then, he’s collaborated with Multicrisis and dropped a bomb on the DnB community with the single ‘Observation’ which has been slaughtering dancefloors across South Africa, Russia and the Czech Republic.

His latest EP, ‘When Worlds Collide’ [Stashed Records], has managed to crawl onto Beatport’s Week 10 Top Must Hear DnB Tracks and has been doing major damage across the globe.

Under the name Biologik he’s played around with everything from Psy-trance to Breaks, Electro, House, DnB and Ambient. However his big love and forward thinking obsession has always been DnB. His residencies rose up from gigs at hotspots like 96 Degrees, Studio 47, Back2Back and in recent times at events like Noctivega and Science Frikshun.

When listening to this sound of this static-vibration inspired producer, you get the feeling that his understanding and love of the genre goes just a little deeper than surface satisfaction. Being nothing less than a perfectionist by nature when whipping tracks together or flavouring up some other already hot beats, it’s not unlikely to find him burning the midnight oil- or rather electricity- all the way to the hello of sunrise.

His inspiration and style evolves from a variety of producers such as Neonlight, Telekinesis, Aeph & Maztek, DaVIP, Counterstrike, Nero, Skitt B, Logistics and B-complex. He respects a bold approach to music, strong deliverance and the more tongue in cheek approach to whether or not people will be digging his sound.

When he’s not smashing up dance floors or creating pziezzo electric worthy beats, he spreads his knowledge and passion by lecturing Audio Technology at the Soul Candi Institute of Music. At the same studios this year he has teamed up with Ryan Murgatroyd for a liquid collective, creating an EP with Riot Squad for Electric Sushi. His collaboration with Mulitcrisis resulted in a stauncher named ‘Observation’ and his first album is set to be released in January 2011. And on the dubstep side of things, he’s teamed up with Riot Squad which will inevitably be 2011′s hottest dubstep original to come out of South Africa.

My sets are an expression of myself, my music and my perspective of what music should be.”

P.H. Fat – Dinosaur Blood! Available Online

South Africa’s favourite Bass Rap outfit P.H.FAT have just signed to San Francisco label MutiMusic.

Muti Music is known as for it’s urban and experimental electronic music output since 2002. Muti artists have since had breakout success leading to steady touring schedules and some even credited with being ‘pioneers’ in their own respective micro-genres. Muti is consistently featured in mainstream electronic music press with frequent features in online press and past label features and reviews in Big Shot, Breakthrough, iDJ, XLR8R, URB, Mixmag and many more print and online magazine sites.

“I’m really stoked to work with some young up and coming South African producers and performers, P.H. Fat are an embodiment of the exact same energy that young folks encountering electronica want to hear right now. Gone are the days of fixed genres and limiting parameters to work within. P.H. Fat represent that open minded and ever changing environment, the attitude is a little bit punk rock and a little bit 60′s psychedelia and a lot of all sorts of electronica.” – Quote from Dov Bruyns – MutiMusic

# Dinosaur Blood will drop as an Addictech - http://www.addictech.com/p/74183 exclusive from May 23rd and will then be live on, iTunes, Beatport, Amazon, eMusic and Rhapsody from June 21st.

P.H.Fat’s debut album “Dinosaur Blood” is swampy mix of gut-stirring bass and sticky psycho-delic dubby beats overlaid with luscious lyrics, which, when experienced, feels like the musical equivalent of a sweaty bone-crushing hug from a sexy alien from outer space. “Dinosaur Blood” is an aural mind f**k for sure. http://www.bizcommunity.com/Article/196/432/56864.html

P.H. Fat performed at the Public Enemy show at The Assembly in Cape Town in December 2010 and it marked another big stepping stone for South African rap and perhaps countries like South Africa are providing more space or more of an open ear for Rap & Electronica fusion bands to make their mark.

Based on the strength of their dynamic performances while touring, P.H.Fat – “The Big Five ft Fuzzy Slippers” reached top chart positions on South African airways including the no 1 position on MFM`s SA Top 10, as well as play listing on the Tuks Fm. The Video of “The Big Five ft Fuzzy Slippers” has also reached no 2 on MK`s Top 10 Chart.

P.HFAT Tour Dates:

25 June – The Assembly, Cape Town

Stepdog, would like to challenge your design skills by asking you to create their new band t-shirt, which will be sold at gigs and right here on Springleap.com

Music is undoubtedly one of the most influential experiences of human society!
It has the ability to make us
smile, laugh and cry.
Music has the ability to get you
on your feet, to make you shout with happiness, or even join a social revolution.

Stepdog is a South African Folk rock band, based in picturesque Stellenbosch.
They have been described as a “
super tight three-piece bearded wonder and produce a funky blend of Creedance Revival meets Bob Dylan with really raspy vocals and toe tapping rhythms”.
If you listen to their music you will understand why this
description is so appropriate.

 More About Springleap.com

Springleap.com is an online crowdsourcing t-shirt design website, launched in 2008 by co-founders and long-standing friends, Eran Eyal and Eric Edelstein. Springleap has since grown into a well-established design platform that empowers up-and-coming designers and artists from across the globe by providing them with a platform where they can display their work, gain exposure and valuable feedback from a design-focused online community, and start earning great cash prizes and royalties on their winning designs. Regular open-theme and ad-hoc brand- or band-sponsored competitions are hosted on the website to source great designs for t-shirts, apparel and other purposes. Local and international artists submit designs from all around the world to win large cash prizes, royalties and exposure. The public and online community then vote for the top designs, and a seasoned Springleap judge-panel (along with the sponsor for brand-sponsored competitions) selects the final winner. In addition to it’s regular design-sourcing services, Springleap also offers corporate and promotional printing services.

Some of Springleap’s great achievements include a second place at the 2008 Innovation Awards in California, and winning the South African e-Commerce Award in 2009.

Quote by Amy Abrahams (Marketing/PR manager at Springleap): “I have always been really passionate about music and design. The Springleap Team is fuelled by the constant creative flow in our environment and it brings us great pleasure to be collaborating with Stepdog and Turbovite on Springleap’s first ever band competition. As Springleap’s Head of PR and Marketing, I’m constantly on the look-out for new and exciting creative and artist-focused ventures, and music seems to be the natural progression for us. We are thrilled to be involved with Stepdog and Turbovite, and have no doubt that the Springleap community will deliver designs that truly capture the band’s spirit.”
